Open Arms India - Huts - Buy a house!
Open Arms India has partnered with ChooseAneed to help raise funds and build new huts for families who have lost their homes in a fire. Each hut is 360 dollars and there are at least 50 families currently without a home. Help us provide housing - one hut at a time. We CAN make a difference. Completed! This project will help to rebuild burned huts for slum dwellers of Bapatla, A. P. India. A recent fire destroyed 50 bamboo thatched roofed huts, leaving hundreds of people totally homeless and without a single possession. The people are sleeping under trees or any place they can find shelter. Many of the homeless are children who attend Reach Out School in Bapatla. Most of these students are now sleeping on the veranda of the school because they have no other place to live.
The families who have lost their homes in this fire have absolutely no place to live. They are staying under the trees right now. But soon the monsoons will come and then they will be living in the mud. Their food and any possessions and their bodies will be drenched regularly as the hard rains of monsoons fall. This means that many of the weaker ones – elderly, infants, sick, handicapped may easily fall ill and even die just for the lack of simple housing.
