Clean Water Wells (One of Four) Busiringe
The Uganda Village Project has identified four sites that would be suitable for wells. They have analyzed the locations, made certain water is there and made certain the wells would be centrally located and benefit many people. Clean Water: UVP has a number of wells to build, thanks to some generous support from donors and fundraising by alums. We also have to thank www.ChooseANeed.org for their support of 2 well projects over the past few months! So Ben has been working hard to get these projects up and running with the help of the JIDDECO staff. This has been a complex process including giving education sessions to each community on types of wells and well maintenance, formation of well committees in each community, and deciding on which components will be provided by the village (bricks, digging labor, etc.) Meeting with the communities has been a time-intensive process. Ben mentioned at the start of the project, “ Good news is that Makinabu has found technicians to do the wells at the prices in our budget. I've met with them both and we're moving to the site at Kyimanto to begin on Monday! I'll be meeting with the Kyimanto community to get them ready on Sunday afternoon."

More recently, he gave us a fantastic update, “WE GOT A WELL! Kimanto rocked the free world cranking out their project… we got it done and it's beautiful and way under budget.”

The second well is planned to be constructed in Busiringe village. “Busiringe began on Saturday and by midday (not even kidding) had dug 3 full meters and struck water. We cast the slab today and might even be finished by the end of this week.”
