Onura Primary School (Phase One)
Lofiriha Primary school is a community set up in collaboration with Hope Ofiriha in 2006. It began with 2 teachers and 72 pupils who were then in P1 (first year primary education) and P2 (second year primary education). The purpose of this project is to build a classroom, a pit latrine, and to provide teaching, and learning materials for Onura, a sub Village of the Lofiriha community in Southern Sudan. The ultimate goal is to build two classrooms.

Hope Ofiriha is a Sudanese charity working in Magwi County Sudan. Hope Ofiriha seeks to Recognize women’s potential, and promote education & healthcare locally in Magwi County.

Lofiriha is a war ravaged rural community located in Magwi County Sudan. The community had been devastated by civil conflicts until 2005 when peace was signed. Many men have been killed while fighting against Army groups to protect women, girls, and children. Those still alive have lost their social capital assets which were the main means of self sustainability. Over 10,000 people have been forced to leave their homes, and community development was brought to a halt. There is no infrastructure developed, and lack of security in the past years has made it impossible for the local inhabitants to return and rebuild.

This community has no feeder road, healthcare post, church, or electricity. Its population comes to 60,000 people according to SRRA (Sudan Relief Rehabilitation Association). Lofiriha people are neither ethnic Acholi nor Latuka. For political reasons they were annexed to Magwi county during the colonial era. The Acholis and Madis are the biggest tribes while Lofiriha are the marginalized ethnic people in the county, and in southern Sudan.

The development of Lofiriha society critically depends on Hope Ofiriha to address the immediate needs and the challenges since there are no international Non Governmental Organizations working in the area.
